Electrophysiological Analysis of Gait and Posture Lab
The principal objectives of the Electrophysiological Analysis of Gait and Posture Lab are to better understand the neuronal mechanisms underlying recovery of walking, the learning capabilities of the central nervous system, and the functional role of activity-dependent plasticity in neurological disorders.
To meet these objectives, our research incorporates concepts from engineering, electrophysiology, and rehabilitation. We are currently examining the transformation of non-functional corticospinal and spinal neural networks to functional after repetitive locomotor training in people with Spinal Cord Injury. Our optimal goal is to establish the relationship between different rehabilitation interventions to reorganization of specific neuronal pathways, optimizing in this way recovery of motor function and thus quality of life in neurological disorders.
